Where in the heck is..........?

Where in the heck is an agency that could provide me with a list of inactive and/or abandoned (gold, silver, and/or gems) mine claims in Indiana? Yuk...winter time and I'm stuck here unable to prospect or use my metal detector.....Guess I need to go somewhere warmer..lol...Anyway, thanks in advance for any help you will give me.

Discoverer, It's time to do some research down at the BLM office. That is where you will find active and inactive claims, both patented and unpatented. Also patented claims that were given or sold back to the public lands system. Check it out. Learn to use the Micro-Fiche and the Master Title Platts, Youll be glad you did. Nuff said, Hardpan

Thanks Hardpan! Blm doesn't cover Indiana. The claims I have and am checking out in Nevada and Colorado I have been using Micro-Fiche and the Master Title Platts. Also I have a friend in BLM. He is unable to help me as far as Indiana goes. But thanks again! have a nice day!

there is no claims in Indiana like that.....just pick a spot, ask if its on private land and start digging.

the info your asking for should be availiable from the Indiana department of natural Resources. they should be online but i dont have the addy.

Check out http://www.mindat.org/index.php put in your state and you can see all the minerals on the list. Not all mines/placers are covered though but popular ones usually are.

Indiana doesnt have the same gold claims as in the real gold country out west...sothern Indiana you have to get permit I think its for 6 months but up by me in NW indiana you need nothing just a few of these....lol...
