I've heard mixed things about the optional coil for the X-terra 70. The dealer said the extra 6x9 in coil was waterproof, but I read somewhere else on this forum that it is not. I know the concentric coil that comes with the X-terra IS waterproof because it says so in the manual and i tried it. But what about the 6x9 inch gold detecting coil? Has anyone tried putting it in the water?

The coils can be submerged to 20 inches, buuuuuuuuuuuuuut.......

The Control Box is NOT waterproof. It is only weather resistant (light rain).

I see what the chart says but I actually used mine in the North Fork of the American River with no problems. Been working great ever since too.

Did ya notice on that chart, not one coil, finds gold and silver both using one coil.. weird on that one.
