When the Property is in My County, I go to My County Tax Records On Line.
Locate The Parcel On Line, on the Interactive map. & Click on.
Look at The Picture Of The Property, To make Shure it's the right Property.
And Copy Down the Name & address of the Owner.

When in other Counties, I Ask the Closest Neighbor, Post Office, Or cop.

? You can also go to the county Court House and Look up who Owns the property.

Detector(s) used
All types of BFOs owned. Especially want White's Arrow; White's Oremaster; Exanimo Spartan Little Monster; Garrett contract Little Monster.
If the land is in town ask for the city directory. If it's in the country ask to see the plat book. Bot are located at the reference desk in the town library and can be consulted but not taken from the library ussually. exanimo, ss

Most County Regster of Deeds Offices have Plat Books for sale. These are a Good investment if you are hunting alot in same county.Look up the proerty and see who he owner is .
Each County usually has a online search site for tax assessment...but you need to know the address....if its a forty somewhere or in the boonies...plat book is still best bet
No Trespassing signs generally have the owners name on them.
And as strange as it may seem, most people who post these signs , are more than willing to let MD's on their property....for a cut .....most of them Up North are to keep hunters off...

What about if the land is owned by the city/county/state? Our courthouse is built on the site of a CW battle here. (Most of it's probably paved over now...grr...)

It should Be listed as Such.

Here all unused County & State land is open to All Recreation.

? INSIDE Large Cities You need to Ask.
? And CITY property, You need to ask.

? Small Town Property Is almost the same as Township Property,
? ? ?I take it on a Case by Case basis.

? ? ? If Small Town Park, Public Park, I usually Help myself & have Never been Rousted for it.

? ? ? ? ? ? Church Owned, I take by Location.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?If Within a Town Or Neighborhood , I ask.
? ? ? ? ? If secluded, or along a stretch of open road, I help myself.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED EVERYWHERE.
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?This is VERY small town, Laid Back Territory
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? and? I am Well Known around here.
? ? ? ? ? ? And Also Know how to Handle the People around here.
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Who are More Intrested & Curious about What I'm Finding,
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Rather then Why I'm Doing it where I am.

Altho, I'd NEVER do this on Private Owners Property.
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
