I also have been looking for a hard shell case, Some people use archery cases but I have not looked at them close up. I am considering making a case for my MXT out of wood, It would be heavy but That would allow me to pull up, pull it out without assembly and start hunting right away.

Just noticed your post... I just posted on the same topic in this same forum. You might try a hard case for a guitar. My 2500 fits perfectly in a guitar case by just folding it in half.

Hard cases for detectors are important when your traveling by plane or anywear where you have to check your bags. I've used The Fisher detector cases and if your detector breaks down enough a suitcase will work. Guitar cases may attract theives that view a guitar as a item that they could sell easiely. But if your only using it in a personal vehicloe it will work fine. The detector bags made by the manufactures are fine for keeping everything together in the trunk too.

Good point about attracting the attention of thieves Sandmand. I have it on good authority that suitcases tend to get tossed around while being loaded and unloaded, while guitars are used on top to fill the voids because they don't stack very well. I am more worried about someone breaking my "guitar" than someone stealing it. I'll have to hurry and make sure I am at the baggage claim area when my stuff starts popping out. I usually am there first anyway. Thanks for pointing that out though... I hadn't thought about that!

I just purchased a Fisher brand travel hard case for $72 at Ron's Dixie's Metal deatectors. The inside dimensions are 21x14x6 inches. Should give you plenty of room to store extra items with your detector. A larger case is also available.

My detector must be larger than yours. The upper part is 28" long. Thanks anyway.
