If people swimmed there I would hit it. Just try to find out where the swimming area was at and hit that place hard......Matt

I too would hit that dried up lake. Don't expect a lot of old coins or jewelry as people back then didn't carry money while swimming nor any jewelry. Still you could find a wedding band or two. Reason enough to make sure you don't disc them out.

as long as it was used for swimming or fishing you are bound to find something interesting. Even if you just find fishing gear you can feel good about cleaning up the pond. i think it would be a great site for rings. Drunk men flinging their wet hands over the water. I am sure there is something worth your time to dig up.

I would go for it. I will be pulling water weeds at a private summer camp later this spring. I plan to hunt it after the work is done.

Give it a try. I know I've given Neptune his share off my various boats over the years.

There was mostly some shoreline fishing going on there, not sure about swimming. The local village is a very, very historical site so I am hoping to stumble onto something good left behind 100+ years ago when the original dry land existed there before it was damed up. Might just come home with a pocket full of rusted hooks

If it was dammed up it possible they flooded housesites.Tthere is a lake near me that has several colonial and civil war housesites that are now underwater. I would try it.

Hooks unless stainless tend to rust away fairly quickly. I wouldn't be too concerned. But you won't know until you try. If it is a historical site you better be sure it's OK to search. Monty
