I am also a beginner and a longtime treasure hunter told me that "If you thought of it, someone else has already hunted it."

As for good finds, they will never tell a stranger. Go try it. The worst you will do is dig pull tabs like the rest of us.

Good luck and find someone to hunt with.

Dave, welcome aboard. Glad to have you here...have you also posted under the Pennsylvania section, you may get more responses....if this is the civil war site in Adams/Franklin counties, be careful...it might be a historic area and might be off limits for detecting.
