Do you have any idea of the size of the shoes? I found some fairly small ones on land I leased from a guy who owned several mules. He told me the ones I found were from mules used to build an old road running through the property I leased. He used his for coon hunting Monty

The complete shoe is 4.75" wide and 5.25 from front to back of shoe. These were about a half mile or so from Wilder Tower at Chickamauga Battlefield. The property used to be all wooded and had large old growth till about 30 years ago, when they cut down one of the old oaks it had a 8lb cannon ball lodged in it,one of the other trees had a bayonet broken off and sticking out of it,and when they dug the footers for a doublewide they found a few minneballs,This is what I was told anyway.

If it is shaped much like the letter U then it's a mule shoe if more rounded it's a horse shoe.
Both can come in very large size's.
