Help needed Late 1600's town

I am a fairly new detectorist. I have a Whites Prisim III. I mostly do beach hunting. A friend of the family has a house that used to be a general store and a bar at one time. built in the late 1600's He said I can detect his yard. His buddie owns the old trading post and I want to detect that as well. Its a 3 hr ride and I plan on spending at least 1 or 2 weekends there. I am just not sure if my skills are up to snuff. I m looking for some advice on where to start and how to pinpoint certain targets. There is a lot of junk and ore in the ground. He does know where the bar used to bury all the bottles and such.

Hit the parks and schools before you go, gtiboy. Just descriminate out the iron and practice, practice, practice. Practice your pinpointing skills, too, so that you don't make a mess in their lawn.

Good luck!

Good Idea RASSEBERRY Lisa..... Maybe even start in some sand and try placing a few targets of different types to get to know the detector.
