I think it's just a gag.....do you think he would metal detect with all that money he makes...he could buy any coin and lots of them he wanted. Besides no real treasure hunter would ever bite a coin like he does on the show.

Johnny Carson used to detect.
We sent him an invitation to attend our club coin hunt.
Of course, he had to decline.

Who knows? He might enjoy it regardless of how much money he makes. That's like saying we shouldn't enjoy walks or a bike ride if we own a car. The more important question about Jerry is: Who cares?

If a TV personality were really passionate about our hobby, I would imagine that fact would become known eventually. After all, they'd have to be asking permission to hunt sites (which would probably be granted 100% the time to those folks too, dang it).

Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones is a keen detectorist and has written a book on the subject.

I dare someone to write Jerry Springer and ask him. The gauntlet has been thrown down. Who is going to take up the challenge?

You can always go on the show and butt heads with those that don't fill their holes. :D

Even if Jery Springer is a detectorist he is a moron....no he comes across as a moron and I wouldn't want anyone to associate me with him! Monty
