We use to sell these security detectors where I worked and they didn't seem to be good for small items like coins, but using it in a hole close to the target it should respond.

It shouldn't get you any closer to your target than the pinpoint function on you machine.
Not sure if I can really see any benefit in taking it along on a hunt.

Hey I just bought a metal detector security wand from Harbour Freight and it works great!!! It was arround 19 dollars, better than a name brand pinpointer.

The Harbor Freight pinpointer works great, but most of those security wands would be a pain to use as a pinpointer. They were not designed to be use in a hole. Frank

This is a pinpointer wand and I have been using it ( untill I find money for the new Garret pinpointer) and it seems to find everything within an inch. I guess its better than nothing.

814, Your $18 harbor freight pinpointer will pick up a dime at 1" the same as the pro pointer but you saved yourself a few bucks. Frank
