I start out digging the zinc pennies but after a while I get tired of them, it's almost like digging pull tabs. Copper pennies show up as dimes so I don't pass those up, knowing their worth more makes them worth it. One thing I've noticed is, if your hunting an area and all your finding is zinc pennies, than chances are someone cherry picked the area.

When searching a new area, the first thing I try to do is date the finds.

If I start finding wheaties, I start digging everything. Zincolns may not be that fun, but they can still blanket a nice merc at depth.

Different people will have different methods. This is just the way I do it.

Depends on my threshold for pain in kneeling down for the pennies. One of the reasons I mainly water hunt.

I dig them mostly to get them out of the way but on the V3i with a 950 coil Zinc and Indians read the same... not to mention token and buttons I have found in that range. besides they add up too... just gotta find a place to dump them... some of them are in pretty bad shape.

I dig signals based on my mood for the day.

Each hunt is different and that is all I have to say about that.

I dig them but am ever disappointed by their sight. The upside is at least they add up over time...

Thanks for all the answers. It is always nice to roll up a few dollars of them each week. Call me old fashion, but money is money. :icon_thumleft:

Someone said how bad zinc pennies look, has any one noticed how bad the new nickels look coming out of the ground.

A penny saved is a penny earned! I have 99 pennies at home, I pick up one and now I have a dollar. Pick em up and put them in your pocket, they add up over time.

You may think they're Zincs but relying on your TID is a bad plan.
TID people leave lots of good stuff in the ground for the rest of us. :hello2:

Re: Do you dig all those pennies or leave'em?

I know one fellow who has dug over 10,000 of them (not an exaggeration) without any complaint.

As for myself, I have my Golden uMax's notch discrimination set to knock out those useless "Zincolns" but it still hits hard on copper pennies.

I don't mind digging those.
