Re: Ever happen to you?..........
My brothers hunting partner just has to rub the mud off the silver coin he just found!!!!!!!! After a stern word the newbie now knows better. There is nothing better then having 2-3 keepers in your pouch, safe from any harm till you get to relive the excitement again at home. Dan

The first thing I do is rub a coin when I dig it. I like the history behind it, not the value, and Im not going to sell them. The little rub scratches dont bother me at all. Most people like to keep them sratch free, and I understand that too....to each his own.

Do what you want with your coins, but remember you are only the temporary keeper of them. The coins will be here long after you are gone. I usually bring a pill bottle to the field, half filled with water and drop my "keepers" in there until I get home. I too like the history I dig up. Old coins are a work of art and in my opinion should be treated as such. I usually don't show my dug goodies, people seem to have an urge to rub them for some reason.

Re: Ever happen to you?..........
In my earlier days I ran into 2 guys in the Field.
They were Showing me their Finds
& the guy with a Compass Detector handed me a
Gold ring
He just found.
As I took it in my Hand between 2 Fingers
it Magically Jumped out & Disappeard.
Man I Felt Bad We stood there using our Eyes
& our Detectors, My Whites, a Garrett & a compass,
no luck just couldn't get a signal.
all the Time I Was paranoid these guys, not knowing me would
Think I did a slight of Hand, I was apologizing
profusely & the guy who handed it to me said
easy Come/easy go, but still I was hurtin' inside
Finally I spied it hanging on a short Bush
it never made it to the ground
this was in the '70's & It still worries
me when somone hands me a Valuable find

Exactly. it is Extreamly Rare I Put something to
the side without first claning it enough
to check it out.
In most cases it has to be Extremely Delicate
to make me think, "Don't do it"
I'v broken things in the field, in my Hands
discriminate out Spike TV and American Diggers !
