I am always seeing people post about the E-trac find this or that or something but no one mentions the v3i like they do the E-trac

I am extremely happy with my v3i and i do great with it... but I sure would like to know how that E-trac performs compared to the v3i anyone have real actual experience with both machines?

Whats the deal? Details please

P.S. I really like the lighted color screen on the v3i... I know that isn't a good reason to buy a detector but for me it was one.

Check out "Dirtfishing" on YouTube. He compares them. His videos are pretty good, and he'll answer any questions you have about them. He's owned them BOTH as well as at the same time.

Different people like different aspects of each detector. I don't think there is anything wrong with the V detectors, and I have seen a lot of great finds reported from V users.

Both are great, but if the color screen is important, then that's the one that is probably best for you.

I do love white's service... I don't know about minelab... I have read that its not the best... so service is a factor...

Also I wanted to know why does it seem like there are more etrac users than v3... are etrac user more active? I dunno... I just want to get to the bottom of it.

I think I'll make a poll

Well one reason the E-Trac has been around longer than the V3..........

I think you just did Chuckers. I researched them both HARD and decided on the E-Trac. They're BOTH awesome machines from all I can tell...

no doubt about that... I'm just curious about the side I didn't pick... and I know we all can talk about it till the end of times... the only real way is to use one, but I'm not going to do that... I am happy with the V3i and I'd rather be out hunting with it finding stuff than learning another detector... this is why I want to discuss it... when I can't hunt.

Buy one $$$. Then you'll know what's the difference.

I've hunted next to guys that were considered by many on forums to be respected DFX / V3i users that others take advice from. I put them to shame miserably time and time again. And it wasn't even a contest. When I can go into their OWN yard and pull out multiple silver while they found none at all, I think that says a lot. And then they made me stop so they could show me how their machine can play music and to look at the pretty colors.

Yup, Minelab's service is awful. Whenever I buy a Minelab, I buy another to carry as a backup at all times. It's that good. Of course, I buy used. I still don't see the need to upgrade to an E-Trac as I've yet to hunt with an E-trac user and have them prove to me that it finds coins that my machine can't.

I don't detect to waste my time with 1 silver days. If I don't find 5 silver and 20+ wheats, then I've had a bad day.

In 20-30 hunts last year, I found 155 pieces of silver. And this is all public property.

And I think there are others finding 200-400 silver a year.

My bad. Explorer XS

I usually don't post it since everybody knows me as pro-Explorer and I was waiting for somebody like Keppy to knock the Explorer/E-Trac line after my post for no reason other than that's what they get their jollies from. And I made the assumption that most people just know since you RARELY see a White's guy top 100 silver in a year.
