I was disappointed with mine. It could pick up a quarter while it was still in the hole but for a penny/dime mine wouldn't sound off unless it was just about touching the coin. Needless to say I don't use it in the field.

Hey Craz8
Go to Zircon.com look for the M40 watch the video
I have used 1 for over a yr. now 2" on a coin 4" on metal.
Zircon makes stud finders for the home they are shaped bad but the M40 is great for a pinpointer.
Any home improvement store can order 1 for you ,i got mine a lowes for $30 bucks runs a 1 9volt batt. still haven`t changed the batt.yet built very well.

Yeah I have the harbor freight pin pointer. For 16$ its not bad but I really don't use mine much...I just have too much crap I'm carrying now. Mine goes off about an inch away from any coin.

I've had one for about 6 months, for 16 bucks it is what it is, I replaced the on off button with a toggle switch and the buzzer with a vibrating motor all for about 5 bucks, and I tweaked the pod and I'm able to get a couple of inches out of it. You can use the motor out of a cell phone, and get the toggle at raido shack. Also look on line and you might beable to find a 20% off coupon :dontknow:

I have had mine for about 3 years and it has worked great! I was really surprised how well its worked for sixteen bucks! I bought 4 of them and gave two of them to friends to tryout. For some reason I never got them back! If I ever wear one of these out I'll probably go to a Garrett. But what the heck, it's still chugging along. Monty
