Is this one dead yet? No, I mean the thread, not the body I have wrapped in aluminum foil buried balls deep in my back yard. That would be cool to find. Certainly one of the bestest most coolest strangest finds imaginable. It might happen.

OK, my coolest find was a nice sized treasure chest, actually found on a free NJ public beach. Damn kids, this almost gave me a heart attack. Best part is all the costume jewelry was actually higher end and several pieces of German silver jewelry too. FIX8N.jpg tIbGN.jpg

Strangest thing I detected was a giant chain. Steel, links were at least three inchest long and 3/8 inch thick stock. I think it was close to 20 feet long. Weighed a ton. Strange part is I didn't dig it.
I was hinting pld 1850s farm house. Once I was done hunting, I threw my detector over my shoulder and started walking home. As I passed under a tree I got a signal. I thought my sad found something but it wasn't him. I walked under tree again. BEEP! Chain was in the tree. I climbed up and threw it down and dragged it home. I think that chain is still in the old shed.
Can't figure out who had the power to throw it in that tree tho. Each link must weigh close to half pound.

I was detecting an old baseball field and dug a small metal rectangle covered with dirt. I scraped it off and it was a name tag - with my name (Scott) on it. Kinda creepy. At least it didn't say "Don't look up" :)

Got a signal one morning at a CW camp site, in my first shovel of dirt there was an arrowhead and a mini ball. I have done that twice now. Also while detecting in a swimming hole I dug my signal with a long handled scoop and pulled up a penny, nickle, dime and quarter all in the same scoop...d2

Found this cigarette lighter yesterday in S.F. It may not be the strangest thing, but it might make my top ten.:tongue3:

You reminded me of a similar incident while water hunting a few years ago. I pulled out of the water a gold chain, gold ring, and a gold medallion in one scoop. My hunting partner was about 50 feet away, needless to say we were both astounded!
