If you have no job and would be satisfied with $100 a week after 30-40 hours detecting why not put an ad in Craigslist or the local paper offering to do odd jobs for $5 per hour and double your money?

I have been detecting for over 40 years. I get UP weeks and DOWN weeks. If you are depending on detecting to make a living, you aren't setting your sights high enough! Your family deserves better. I have paid for my equipmemt a few times over but NOT enough to even consider making it a business. Besides, if I HAD to detect everyday, eight hours a day, it would be too much like work and I would HATE it! As long as I keep detecting in perspective, it will remain a life-long pleasure. TTC

I go to the 99cent store, they sell "Panasonic"alkaline 2 double AA pack for 99cents and 4 AAA's for 99cents. The stores are here in Northern Calif. & Southern Calif. Great when ya want to use fresh batterys and have backups cheep. Good luck.
