I just picked up a Harbor Freight 9-function detector for $40 a couple of weeks ago. I've found a bunch of coins in the yard just messing around. Nothing very old 1965 for a couple of the quarters.

But, it's a blast and I realize the HF is a piece of crap detector but it's what I have for the moment.

Any ideas for places in/around Dayton? Places to avoid? Any help would be much a appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Don't under estimate the hf detector. There was a review I saw that was actually quite good.
Welcome to the hobby.
And remember is not what you swing it's how you swing it.

Here's most of the collection from the back yard. Just found the little hammer tonight. I think it's a toy hammer maybe from a geology kit?

Messing around with settings helped me get about a dozen more pennies ( and my first wheat back! ), a dime and a couple of more quarters.

If you dig a bit deeper there, you my find Indiana Jones :icon_thumright: :laughing7:

It doesn't matter the brand, or cost of your machine. I've noticed that you are hitting targets and good ones and that's all that counts at the end of the day. :tongue3:

tonyc10k - thanks for that awesome list. I was actually planning to hit a rock quarry this weekend.
spartacus53 - I'll keep an eye out for Indy. 8-) The HF seems to be working fine. When I get find enough things to pay for upgrade I'll be sure to get one.
