Gold is not exceptionally conductive. If you don't dig up things that read 'pull tabs', you will not find many gold rings (they read about the same on most detectors, not just the ACE 150). Odd are good that you will dig up hundreds of pull tabs before you get any gold, but that's just the way to normally works out.

Checked my rings one reads a sold Nickel and the other goes between Nickel and Pull Tab.

The difference in readings will depend on what the gold is alloyed with, the gold content (10K, 14K, 18K, etc) and the size of the item. Other factors will change the readings too, such as mineraliztion of the soil, depth, and other items close by the target.

I believe yellow gold becomes white gold by adding platinum. Either way, they should both read at the about same setting as pull tabs... or lead. TTC
