For $160 you can buy a Tesoro Compadre that will find lots of stuff, is easy to use and has a LIFETIME WARRANTY. Can't be beat for a starter detector and the only company with lifetime warranty.

I got a used Garrett Ace 250, with a 6 & 9 inch cool for 140 from the Craigslist. Buying new is good But limited due to finances.
