Age of site based on foundation

I was able to get out this weekend for a few hours and hit a site. Based on research, the area has been occupied since at least 1876, maybe earlier. I came across several foundations that looked like stacked stone that was mortared at some point. Though i didn't find any relics or coin, is there a way to guess at an age? BTW, there was so much halo'ing my MD was going crazy. One site was just three stairs and the base of a chimney and a depression. Hoping to hit this again when better weather arrives.
