I explored several old log cabin site today out in the county where I grew up. I didn't find any valuable things but had fun learning my new detector. In the pic is a stirrup which I was told by an historian to be a ladies side saddle one because of its size and dates 1860-1900. Then just some newer shell casings and two pieces of copper. Those like like 7.62x39 shell casings.

I would check around a bit more on that stirrup.
children's saddles also had smaller stirrups.
Never take one person's info on an object to be gospel.

And it looks you are learning that detector pretty well.

They are those shell casings, and the site hasn't lived at since the 1910s. Shell casings where about 3 inches stirrup was about 7. I have no clue what a harmonica reed looks like but this on was found at a cabin site that hasn't been lived in since 1900s. It's copper

Yes a harmonica reed. Cool finds looks to be a good site to hunt. Good luck I like the stirrup.
