Of the two I would go with the 750. My option though would be to spend another $50 and get an ACE 250, or find one used for around the same price.

I'd be all over the 750. Twice as good as any Ace model! Assuming it's in good working order of course!

Forget the 750 for that much. It eats batteries and you would learn a lot faster from a 250 or another newer type. There are great deals on some recent detectors but I don't recommend newbies buying them as you would never know if it was working correctly. What good is saving money buying used if you have to send it in for repairs. Tesoro could fix you up for no cost in most cases even if you bought it Join NRA.JPG used if you tell them about it. The newer detectors are lighter too. Cables are new and coils don't leak from wet grass.

From what was said & ur options u threw, out I'd agree throw another $50 down if u can grab that ace 250 its a good detector has pinpointing capabilities & couple of different programs to choose from coils & cables would be new do u could do a little creek come with a warranty its all gonna depend on what u want to detect for where something to think on

Thanks everyone! Weighing my options. Picking up a 250 does make sense.

Why not see if you can get the 750 for considerably less than 150 bucks?? The time I tried a ace detector I hated it...Bad!!

I happen to like my Ace 350 and my Infinium LS but if I was able to drop only around $200 I would go with the Fisher F2 pinpointer kit for $215. It come with a pinpointer and a sniping coil.

Same kit I bought my son. Awesome machine. I paid less than that though.

I'm finally jumping in to metal detecting. Want to start small to make sure I enjoy the hobby. I am taking everyone's advise and getting a good machine. So, I have a club member offering me his older Garrett 750 for $150. Or I could buy a new Garrett 150 for the same amount...

What do you think?

Thanks for your help!
Bryan
For that price it is hard to go wrong with that detector. Good luck!
