Thanks wvwildman, as I am going to be feeding batteries into multiple machines for the grand kids I need a good trustworthy source for a bulk buy. I know I must sound pretty cheap and petty but to date I feed all my clad finds into my favorite children's hospital. I hope to be able to keep that going.

I run energizer re-chargeables in all my detectors pinpointer too. 9 volts are kinda pricey so I figured I'd save a little in the long run. They're about $12 each at Wally World and a 4 pack of alkalines cost like $7.

In a couple more charges I feel like I'll be ahead!

I run Li-Ion 9v (8.2v). No worries about them going dead on you because you had your detector or battery shelved for a week or 2.
I'm not knocking other users suggestions about NiMH, but I have never had a good experience with the Energizers. They would slowly discharge if they sat for several days.
I got my Li-Ion on ebay for under $25 (2 batteries and one dual charger). Had them for 2 yrs now and still going strong.

I have noticed warm temperatures will zap em (NiMH's) dead. I left my detector in the back of my blazer for a day and a half... Dead! But at room temp they seem to hold fine even a couple of weeks between digs?!?!

I find that CostCo has the best prices locally for bulk throw-away batteries. They're usually Duracell or Energizers.
