How and why are these MD's Better than mine. Narrowing down next detector to buy.

I think my detector will pick up around 1/2 gram maybe.
Have to do more testing with Gold samples from Ebay,as I can afford.
It is the Garrett Groundhog running at 15khz.
7 inch coil
But I bought a 10.5 inch also.
Trust me guys, this will be my last post on asking about purchasing MD's.

I want a new detector.I am looking to buy one used.I have asked some of the more or best guys on here, but I need to ask a few more questions.
GB2.Now it runs at 71khz. Now I know why it finds small gold.
Whites GMT-48khz.I can see this one easily.
But for instance,
Tesoro Lobo ST-----17.8khz,
At-Gold----------18khz,
At-Pro--------15khz.
GB-----19khz,
GB pro-19khz,

Now since mine runs at 15khz,why would the machines I listed,be that much better, since they are only 2-4 khz higher than mine.
Or is it because they are newer technology.
The Garrett gold scorpion so called is the same frequency as mine, with the same controls.
Just made to look like the newer models. Maybe more choice of coils, but I have the Groundhog already.
I would also like Manual and Auto ground balance.
And discrim.

I really don't need the meter, but it is nice. Unless it really helps.
I rarely if ever look at my meter on the Groundhog.
I want a gold Detector. But as Terry S has said and used,His Tesoro LST is great.

So,to end this, the choices I have come up with are above, but I am leaning towards these 3. Below.
Tesoro Lobo ST
GB2
Whites GMT.

But the Gold bug series would be nice also.
AT Pro
At Gold.
Whoops,5.

Oh,I live in Az, so we need to think about minerals in my ground.

We use the Tesoro Lobo Super Traq (in All Metal), and the Minelab GPX 5000 up in Central and Northern Arizona. The old Scorpion is a real POS. I would tell you to go with one of three machines: The Arizona made Tesoro Lobo Super Traq; the Fisher Goldbug Pro: or the Whites GMT. The Groundhog is all but useless in the goldfields.

There is a lot more at play than JUST frequency. Talk to other nugget hunters in the area you want to hunt and see what they are using.

Thanks all.
I was going to give you a call Terry because i know you use the Tesoro a lot.
Was going to call you anyway on the membership for the club.Yours or the one you belong to.

Well a Minelab is out for now.
So it looks like the GMT,or the GB2.

So I assume that both the AT's are not that great for my area? Or Az.
How about the Meter?
Is it more of a hindrence,or just for show.Does it really help that much.
In my opinion, it is just another digital item to go bad.

Meter and other VDIs are for grass hunters who may be looking to avoid aluminum scrap. Hunting for gold, the only thing you want to avoid is iron so no VDI needed.

I would go with the Fisher Goldbug: Lobo Super Traq; or Whites GMT

Thanks Jason and Terry.
So I will start looking at the 4 MD's then. GB-Pro or GB2,GMT,LST.
I will see if a jewelry store can evaluate my rings I have and maybe I can get enough to buy one used.
I will go down to promack and see if they will trade me straight across for a used machine for say like 6 gold rings or something.

Terry, does Bunk belong to one of those?
If so.which one?

How about a Fisher Gold Bug M-Scope, Or a Gold Bug 1? . It says in the manual 19.2 khz,but no iron discrim.
Looks just like the GB2,basically.
