Finding a land owner

I came across a property I'm dying to search but am not sure how to find the property owners. Normally I check the address on the county auditors site or talk to the neighbors. I haven't had luck either way. I called pd and left a message, an officer is then supposed to call back. I was hoping I'll find some answers there. Any advise on locating the property owners?

I should add the property hasn't been lived in for years if not decades.

I use the tax assessor's office and if I know the address, it's no problem finding the landowner whether they live out of town or not. I wrote two local landowners about detecting their property and one said yes and I never heard from the other one. I think I will send her another letter with a self addressed envelope and see what she says.
