specially hard to find colonial ones
silversmiths/goldsmiths & pewtersmiths
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~silversmiths/

if you cant find it - drop him a line and he'll help you
if you have some items that you already identified and he has maker lisited
he probably love to add a pic of the item(s) to his site
He is not a TH'er - you wont have to divulge sites where found
he wants to catalog as many of these items for historical reference
he may be able to tell you more about your item(s) than you know

I used his site to identify maker of a mourning ring recently found by another hunter
indentifying the maker of a colonial item can greatly increase its value -both
monetarily and historically

If its colonial gold - 1700s-1800s - gold would have been done by silversmith
most gold items from back then were made out of gold coins or other melted down gold jewelry
