it will probably ring up as gold. tungsten is often plated with gold and is very hard and is similar in weight and density to gold. It is also used as filaments in light bulbs with a melting point of 6000 degrees.

This is just plain Tungsten with no gold plating.

Thanks b0xcar! I read on another site that they hit at 43 on a white's machine. That's quite a bit lower than a 65 on a AT. I guess size and weight make a large difference in the VDI the same as gold and silver rings. I would have thought Tungsten to be much lower on the scale.

Did he just lose it? They come in like junk, though if he just lost it - it will be a strong hit.

Yeah he just lost it Monday. I figured I would lower my sensitivity and pick the strong hits.

I told you it would ring up as gold. 18k gold rings up 65 on an ATP

When you get a nice strong hit, brush the area with your foot.......if no ring appears, move along. Don't waste time digging anything. When you find it, then you can go back and dig the other stuff!!!!

My tungsten ring comes in at a solid 73 on my ATP. Mine is a size 11 for reference.
