Don't exactly understand your Question,
But the only way I can Distinguish between Penny, Dime & Quarter is my a slight Tone Difference

Not surprised you can't quite understand my question since I realized I wasn't very clear on my way home but I'd posted it in a hurry before I left. :)

You partially answered something for me though. I can't hear the difference yet. But to try to be more clear on the question:

Since the discrimination cuts off where coins start, I can't adjust that (like I'm used to on my Sidewinder) to have a better guess at what it is before digging. I built a homemade meter on Saturday (from dlclark's/wildherre's/??? plans) and I presume it operates the same way that the Minelab or Sun-Ray meters work: primarily that, after adjusting so that a quarter reads at 1.80 (volts on a 20v scale--as opposed to 180 on the Sun Ray or modded Sov or 550on an unmodded Sov), all (clad or silver) coins seem to read the same. Since the meter readings are cutting off right where the discrimination stops, I assumed that the same circuitry drives both.

Either way, I was wondering if there is a modification that can be done to the circuitry so that the readings do not cut off at that point and will give different readings above the 1.80/180/550 point.

I am not familiar with the meter you are using. But the Minelab and Sunray meters don't cut off where the discrimination is set.... The Disc. drives the sound in the phones but it shows on the meter. Some meters are calibrated 1 to 100 and you can get others calibrated differently.

...the Minelab and Sunray meters don't cut off where the discrimination is set....

Do you mean where the disc is set at or where it maxes out? (I'm referring to where it maxes out.)
