Teknetics Eurotek Pro - either 8" coil or 11" coil depending on your location and where you'll be hunting. Or Garrett ACE 350. Both in your price range and both outstanding detectors.

Tesoro Silver uMax or Cibola if you are not in heavily mineralized soil. As stated above the Eurotek Pro also seems like a lot of bang for the buck.

Fisher F2 or Teknetics Eurotek Pro would be my picks.

The ace 350 is a good coin machine. You can get a nice used on on ebay and leave yourself a little extra money for a propointer. Which makes finding what your digging 1000% easier. Plus the coils are fairly cheap if you ever want extras. My 2¢
