WHAT COUNTRIES LEGALLY ALLOW METAL DETECTING

The operative word is legal.

Dominican Republic allows it, Mexico Allows it Bahamas allows but is restricted to personal MD only, no commercial level type of detectors. Lets make a complete list. Lets have the countries in question verify legality. I have done so on the ones I listed here.

I haven't heard that one. Is that one particular cruise line or port? Which bureaucratic knucklehead did you ask? Any reason given?

I was wondering about this too. Granted, I have never been on an ocean cruise line, but ...... is it required to get their permission for each item you bring? eg.: "Can I take my electric shaver?", and "can I take my monopoly set?", and so forth. I mean, does anyone really riffle through your underwear to see what anyone brings on cruise-ship personal luggage?

Is this rule written down somewhere ? If so, then presumably it's written already in your boarding pass material. Eg.: no explosives, no illegal drugs, no guns, etc..., right? And if not listed, then ...... so be it.
