I think it is part of a toilet, or maybe an old stove.

It's either the hinge pin from the upstairs bathroom door or a regulator from an oil stove. Can't tell from this angle.

My real guess would be a buckle from a belt or strap. Is there anything on the back?

No nothing on the back. It's made out of stamped copper. There was an old school house on my property before my house was built. I thought it was a buckle for a book strap but not sure.

The two "Fang" looking pins look like they move and have a recess to sit in. I'm sticking with a buckle of some kind. You might be right about the book strap. Interesting find.

The "fangs" are in a fixed position. That's what has me puzzled.

Are they in a fixed position because they are corroded? Sure looks like they were designed to move, doesn't make sense any other way.

Something to show scale might help a bit.
