Found this curious coin about 10 feet from my back door.

Got a faint signal at a 5" depth. Dug and screened some dirt and found this 1912 Half Penny from the Netherlands. Very small, light coin. Pretty good detail including the royal crest above the date. Still rather difficult for my iPad camera to pick up all the detail. A few families of Dutch ancestry live in the area although my farm was settled by English. image.jpg image.jpg Just getting somewhat comfortable with the standard settings of the AT Pro but little finds like this show what a great hobby this can be! Sorry that pics details aren't sharper.

Now that's the way to hunt, take a few steps out your door and find a hundred year old coin. Congrats.

Thanks Susan. This is an old farm (1878) and there's a lot of iron junk to hunt around. Is giving me good practice though. Plus the benefit of the old homesite which I'm just starting to explore in depth. Hopefully more finds in the future whether coins or artifacts.

The coin is Dutch ( Nederlands ) or Holland as you would know it.
