I would start with pathways to outer doors. Also any areas where people would have gathered, especially shaded areas. If you can figure out where they might have had a clothes line, that should be good too. Another area of treasure searching is to dig where the old privy or outhouse used to be. There can be tons of bottles and other relics along with coins and jewelry found in one.
