Anyone see "Battle of Monmouth" on the history channel last night?

Pretty cool show. Lots of detectors shown being used to redefine how the battle really went down.

Really cool bullet finds, some with teeth imprints from humans and hogs and some with forcep marks from being removed from bodies.

The detectors outline bullet concentration points to show how Washingtons tactics and extreme heat helped the Continental Army to kick British ass in Jersey that day.

Didn't you notice the one spot early on where the narrator pointed out "metal detectors, long banned from the site are now a common tool." and as the show progressed you found out how the archies were now finding things they never found before because of the MD's. So it's okay for them to use them, and dig only those targets indicated by the MD's instead of standard excavation methodology but you and I show up there now and it's off to the slammer. You might also note a lot of the site was farm field, perhaps private land that they can now work and you can't.

The show actually documents a shift to legal entitlement status for certain academia and our general slide into second-class citizenship as vulgar MD'ers as much as anything else. Hope I didn't read too much into it. Kinda cute, an archie created a formula whereby using the weight to diameter ratio of a deformed shot he could determine it's original caliber. Gee, wonder if I checked the mass of a deformed .63 cal versus the mass of a deformed .69 cal, would I be able to tell the difference?

Don't worry, if you are local club member who assisted them you may well be on your way to being allowed to only detect in designated areas and if that suits you, enjoy! Ride your bike on designated bike paths, walk on designated trails only and detect in designated areas only. Sounds like a free country!

I thought it was cool when they realized the major part of the battle was across the street from the actual state park!!!! I have seen several of these programs it just goes to show history in the way it was written is not always true... I am a history major and love it when the books are proven wrong....

I was supposed to get to Tx two weeks ago but sick. My brother gave me directions to a spot under Interstate 10 where he thinks he saw Gold while he was rebuilding the highway years ago. He said there was a gold mine up in the mountains and the Gold came from there. The Gold mine is said to run under the highway and the had to stop digging while his crew worked on the road bed.
I live in Arkansas, if you know anyone who would like to check it out with me, I will be going soon as I lose this chest cold. My brother saw something shine in the ditch and one of the guys working with him said it was Gold washing down from the mountains. It sounds too good to be true, but if no one looks they will never no for sure.

I spent 8 hrs driving (1 way) to Nashville and 8 hrs back (16 hrs total drive time to/from my destination) not counting hrs upon hrs of driving around the area once I got there, to find a few places to hunt, 79.00 per night (3 nights) at a hotel, plus my food, gas, etc. cost, for a total of a 5 day adventure.. Total $$ spent to find the few pieces I did (shown on the other post) plus approx. that much more not shown, was at least $500... If I put that stuff with the few other pieces I found up for sale, I'd get about $10 to $15 for it all..

That's why I said the above in relation to your reply to the post here! lol

I saw it. I just happen to live about 20-30 mins from the battlefield. I was watching the Battlefield Detectives marathon and when that came on, I made everybody get out of the livingroom so I could hear.

I dont think there is anything like that around here. There is a existing mine near Harwood Texas(the only mine here) and it lies just east of I-10. But if there is any gold in any of the streams around there near over passes, i dont know........ Give me a definite location and I might be able to help..... I live outside of Houston and travel all over Texas...
