might be worth it.. iced over in winter, hockey/ice skating losses could be recovered, as well as harvest workers, before the machines took over, bending over with those old scoops

If you dont look ,.... you don't find,.. Its never a failure ,... its called experience and hours invested in learning how to use your equipment in different situations.
there just might be an old hunting riffle or hunting knife lost in the mud ...

Your right, who knows what's out there.
Is it just me or do you find researching the area just as much fun as metal detecting.

Researching is definitely as fun as having the machine on the ground. Even more rewarding when finding a site nobody else has touched.
