Welcome to Tnet! That's a great find! It's also a good place to practice your recovery techniques. Do yourself (and others that come after you) a favor and learn how to cut a 3 sided plug or to use the slit method. It's much less likely the plug will die if you use those methods instead of your full plug. It will matter when you venture out in the public domain and also searching other people's property. There are a ton of youtube videos that will show you the proper method. Good Luck and have fun!

Nice find aged10 years but coulda ark is right, the grass will recover much better if you dig a three sided hole. Sometimes the grass is so dry it is hard to dig a proper plug I know but if you take care it can be done.

Good find  Ya never know whats buried in the back yard.... in your case gold for sure. Hahh :)

*scratches his head* I do think the comments on digging etiquette are unwarranted given its their own yard. Kindly knock off the caustic chatter.

Really? Really? Really! Nothing negative was said to the OP and it was suggested for when he left his property. Perhaps you didn't read everything.

We are happy for your gold ring find.
Seeing that you were a new member the advice was only meant to help, not to insult.
No need to be caustic.

Sooo what other things did you pull out of your yard?

A couple pieces of copper and some bottle caps...oddly enough, not a single coin.

Funny, I thought I was being friendly, helpful, and welcoming to our forum. Evidently not. It no wonder metal detecting is being banned in many areas if the new generation of detectorists have this sort of attitude. Heaven helps us all.......

You were nice and helpful. The OP was rude and used profanity. He was defended and I was sent a pm telling me how wrong I was. You would think that when someone assumes that it is a child they would condemn the language they used. Not in today's society.
