44' usa filpinas coin ?

hi everybody this is my first post i've been MD for a few years now have read a lot but never posted in this part of the forum this weekend i found in the same hole ,two pennies 1944,1940,and a 1944 twenty cintanos Filpinas coin with the united states of America on the back i've never seen a us coin from another country thought that i'd share.. also a ring not in the same hole ,it was a good weekend … i live in san diego and can MD all year just got to find the spots that people haven't already picked over…. is this a rare coin or are there a lot of them i've just nevr seen one ….. i love reading of all the great things everybody finds this is a great site ……i'll post pic's in a few min.

That's pretty neat :) Never knew the US had minted something like that and I would have been thrown for a loop till I researched it. Cool little spill. Good recovery on the ring as well. Welcome and keep swinging :)

I've found a few of those "Filapinas" coins here in San Diego too. In one particular park, I found 4 of them, 10 to 50 centavos.

44' usa filpinas coin ?

The US minted these as provisional coinage, much as we might for a colony. They were intended to tide the PI over.

We were closely allied with the Philippines before, during and after the war. Their economy was in a shambles and needed the boost.

I've found 50c pieces myself.
