Why did i find this where i found it??

An authentic " hitler youth knife " I found near an abandoned sawmill that ran until the 1920 then was all left to ruin. Was stabbed in the ground next to a tree when I found it all you could see was the handle. Didn't see it at first but at-pro Metal detector flipped out on it.

Possibly it's a replica some kid was fooling around in the area and simply lost it. Clean it up and see if it is a replica.
If it authentic, who knows. Could have been a souvenir GI bring back. It's what makes this hobby interesting.

Curious as to how you got it authenticated, and if there was a value put on it. The good one's
seem to start at about 1000 dollars.
How are you going to preserve it?
Also, I would be all over every inch of where you found it!

I'm going to try to find where I found it today if I can! Lol I'm headed to that site now. From wiki The Hitler Youth Knife (German: Hitler-Jugend) was a knife sold to and carried by boys of the paramilitary youth organization of the Nazi Party that existed from 1922 to 1945. The Hitler Youth wore knives as part of their uniform, which was very similar to those worn by the Sturmabteilung. The knife was also given to those who had passed greatly in minor exams. Hitler Youth knives typically have a swastika emblem on the obverse grip, and an RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) inscription on the blade. In early 1937, the motto Blut und Ehre! (Blood and Honor!) began to be etched on early knife blades, but this practice was abolished and later knives were produced with plain blades. After the war, an unknown quantity of Hitler Youth-style knives were shipped to the United States. These imports were made from mostly surplus parts, but the swastika emblem on the handle of many knives was replaced with a fleur-de-lis emblem, similar to that used by the Boy Scouts. Knives of this style are still reproduced and sold for recreational use. Perfect Real one then a fake one then a Boy Scout one

Talk about 'Be Prepared'. Never knew the Boy Scouts were being given weaponry. I could understand
a Swiss Army knife, but a replica Nazi Dagger seems like overkill.
Anyway, be wary enough of staying too late at that site. You don't want to end up guest of honor at an Aryan brotherhood cook-out!

Went back to the site. found hand blown whiskey bottles and such and a token from back then around 1900. And a pocket watch back with a design on it. All pre 1920

That is a "hem weight". Sown into the bottom of curtains, or dresses, to keep them from blowing around in the wind.

Excellent thank you! Now this is another one of my why did I find this where I found it's. A fired .50 bullet found in a graveyard from 1850 next to a confederate cw camp I've found minie balls and round balls at. What is this doing there?! On the driveway of the graveyard, only 3 inches deep. Maybe hauled in with the rocks? But it's in good condition? The butt has a rusty color to it is all. Makes you think...

Well I plucked an 1898 s barber quarter. And a 1873 Indian head, And wheaties all by the old church in it. Round balls And minie ball bullets 10 inches deep next to the church also
