Usually yes. Batteries last about 8-10 hours of hunting on PI pinpointers.

When I turn on my pinpointer the light flashes. Is this a low battery warning?

Of course, if you would tell us what KIND of pinpointer you have,
you might get an answer from someone who can tell you about that model.

Or are you saying that Detecknix is the manufacturer and/or model?

I did some searching and found that there is a pinpointer called an Xpointer made
by Deteknix. I'm guessing that's the one you mean. The website shows that
it features a "low battery indicator" but doesn't say how it indicates that.

I'm guessing your flashing light is the answer, but maybe someone who
owns one can tell us.

I use rechargeables in my X-pointer so mine has never gotten low enough to find out. The documentation that came with the pinpointer says a flashing light is the low battery alert.

I have one and the light will blink when battery is low. I actually like this better than my Garrett because of the features. Low battery indicator, 4 sensitivity settings, audio or vibrate or both modes, if left on for 3 minutes will alarm, if left on for 5 minutes say if you lost it the alarm is more intense. Comes with belt sheath, a springy lanyard with the metal loop thing you would have to buy separate for your Garratt and 4 probe end protectors. All for $90 with 2 year warranty. Not bad at all

There is only 1 Detecknix pinpointer that Im aware of. Thats why I used the name in the top of the post.

I have noticed with the Deteknix X-pointer that it will go through batteries a lot faster if you use vibrate, or sound and vibrate. I just hunt with sound and my batteries last a long time.

I thoroughly and most wholeheartedly concur.

The XPointer is one bad ass pinpointer in my book.

my low battery indicator flashed for the first time just last night. Even so, it still lasted for the rest of my hunt so I was very happy about that.

I love mine. I was going through batteries too fast though, so I bought rechargeable. Also, I had a little trouble with the cap not screwing on tight enough which caused the pin pointer to act as if the battery was low. I stuck a thumb tack into the inside end and it solved the problem.

I agree with Papalittle.
I use mine on beep only and the batteries last forever. I've replaced mine once since I got it in early summer and I've been using it pretty much daily.

I did a lakeside beach hunt yesterday and used the beep/vibrate mode for the first time due to the background noise. It worked really well.

Oh yeah; the flashing light does mean it's time for a new battery in case you haven't figured that out by now.

Well, nothing lasts forever right?? You definitely got you money's worth out of that battery.

But yeah, I've heard the XPointer eats batteries but my experience has been just the opposite. Again, like yourself I only use the beep mode 99.9% of the time.

I also have the sound hole taped over to cut down on the noise. It's pretty loud IMO.
