It's probably the best detector 400 dollars can buy.

capable machine in the hands of a skilled user.personally I cringe at the sounds it makes but that is only me.watch a few youtube vids on it and take it for a test drive.the price is good for it if in very good condition.

The most capable machine in my stable. My only negative comment is it's heavy.

I watched a few you tube video and it seams to be a good detector. Does any one know how well it will pick up nuggets , I could not find a vid with some one looking for gold with it

large nuggets maybe but for little specs of gold you would need a dedicated gold machine.

It wouldn't be my choice for nuggets but if you plan to do a lot of coin-shooting and if it really is in great shape, then go for it. It is a big upgrade from the 250.

It'll blow that Ace away. But it is almost 2 pounds heavier, uses 8 AA instead of 4. You gain faster recovery, TID numerics, 4 tones, better depth, ground balance. I've seen them sell between $380 to $550 used. If it's in great condition, the MXT with the 9.5 concentric is a good deal. If it's the MXT Pro with a 10" DD.......GRAB IT.

For a multi-purpose detector it's probably one of, if not the best for prospecting along with the general hunting capabilities. Certainly a dedicated gold machine will have an edge, but the MXT in prospecting mode in gold areas will produce. For a single detector owner that wants to hunt everything and occasionally prospect, the MXT (any version) is hard to beat IMHO.

Ace 250: I have changed my opinion. Do not buy the MXT. Instead give me your friends's contact information so I can buy it.
