I finally tracked down the owner of this:

And was able to meet and return it to him. His response by text was pure excitement. Apparently he lost it in 2010 shortly after graduation. When I told him I found it metal detecting, at the meet, he finished my sentence on which park it was in. Yep, he's the right owner. :)

Here's the "trophy" photo of the ring return. Yipee!

Ring Returns are as much fun as the find, frankly! I'm looking forward to my next.

Yes it is. I've found probably close to 50 rings (mostly junk), and of those, only 5 could be "possible" to identify, and 2 of them (this one included) were class rings. The first class ring had NO identifiable markings (just a logo... not even a year), and I gave up after two months (was gold...eventually scrapped it to help buy my son's detector).

This one was very much worth the time and effort. The person taking the picture was my 12 year-old son, who was JUST as excited about it as I was. Very cool stuff!

you may want to consider joining,"theringfinders"for your area.I look forward to a search call as when it ends well it is usually a very happy moment for all.

We've already got a top notch guy in our area that does that. Also our local MDing club is pretty active about advertising they're happy to go help and search. I've considered ring finders, but with just 5 months under my belt, the only thing I feel fully qualified to find, is pop-tops. I still feel like the rest is accidental, as a result of a really good grid. LOL
