So I found a site that used to have nearly 100 houses built in the 40's and since torn down. I spent a few hours there trying to follow a few sidewalks. I only found a few dimes (1965) and a wheat penny (1944). Where would you concentrate looking? Site has been pretty well torn apart and bulldozed.

If it has been bulldozed, chances are pretty good that the first several inches of ground have been removed/repositioned.

Not a place I would choose to hunt.

I've had pretty good luck at sites like that. If you can tell where sidewalks we're I'd start there. Stuff can be anywhere look for hotspots.

If it was recently dozed, there could be pockets of virgin soil containing silver where the yards would have been.
I've hit a few properties that were like that (multiple lots) and have had both good days and bad.

If you live close, have unlimited access and time on your hands, I would hit it again. . . and again.

I hit a few spots that had tons of cinder block just 6 inches down and other spots I could go deep. Just wondering if where the cinder block was (broken into fist size chunks) is where the foundation of the houses were or if it has all been repositioned. I guess it's time to start GPS way points and looking closer with Google Earth at any pattern

I pulled my 1st LC from a site like that. After they dozed, the LC was about 4" down and in it's milky green protective clod. If the sidewalks to the front doors are still there, you can pretty much estimate where the houses sat. I'd search front, side and back yards and do minimal searching where the structures once sat.

Sounds like a great spot. My son and I are also currently hitting an old army base housing tract site. Most of the coins we have been getting have come from the front area(s) where the houses sat. Especially if there was a side walk. More so though if the tract didn't have a sidewalk but nearest the street. Not much though in the backyard areas. Some have been leveled and others haven't. The bulldozed area of the tract we have found NOTHING!!!!! Good luck though. Its there somewhere!!!!
