My Detector never lies to me! This piece of Foreign crap had a Low tone. - My 1st clue. But, I did find a knife , and an old brass door hinge, so not a bad day. 10469536_1107822249229663_5783471566520247685_o.jpg 10506993_1107822279229660_8362954686058270578_o.jpg 11241220_1107822362562985_5240658174859429227_o.jpg 12188153_1107822262562995_8599633937648553597_o.jpg

Is it possible that only the individual finding marked .925 is silver, and the rest are not? I have seen pieces before that had some findings and beads that were .925, and other findings and beads not. I have also found chains that were plated base metals with .925 clasps.

Worldtalker is dead on. Chains and bracelets with links will read very low VDIs. Sure looks like silver.

Well, that's very interesting & good to know. I have found a lot of Silver, and this is a first. Odd to me that it's in the Iron/ Foil range on the detector, never had that happen. & Thanks!!

I got a 27 gram silver figaro style italian bracelet.rung up at about 55...but in a couple test swings with it in differant positions I could get it as high as 70 and as low as 50.links are really funny...does look legit, snag a test kit from amazon

and heck yes I've dug fakes, never silver but 4 or 5 fake 14k italy pieces.

Always test it to be sure. There could be other metal near it in the ground, it could be mixed with other metal. I haven't found marked fake silver, yet, but I have found marked fake gold.

Drop it in some bleach and see if it tarnishes.... If it does then it's sliver...

Yep! I've found a few of those heart breakers myself.
But those first few seconds are thrilling!

You did VERY well!
The bracelet is sweet!
The knife, is certainly a fine addition - does it work? Spring-assisted, I assume.

Son brought home a heavy flat chain necklace he bought marked .925, he told me it wasn't real because he only paid $10. for it. The TH'er in me just had to test it, he was right, its junk marked .925, so the fake stuff is out there!
It wasn't magnetic either.

Fake pieces don't usually have a makers mark on them unless it's a Tiffany or some other high end designer knock off. What does it say after the .925?
