Metal Detecting on a Cruise?

Not sure if this is a good place to post this quesiton or not? I have a cruise booked on Norwegian in March. Was just wondering if anyone has every took their detector on a cruise? I'm headed to Cozumel, Belize and Roatan-Bay Islands Honduras. I think I can take it on the Ship but not sure if I can use it on the beach at these locations? Not expecting to find much but it would be fun to do while the wife is relaxing on the beach!
