Hello treasure hunters! I recently dug my best coin ever. My question for you is, what would you do with it?

Would you send it for grading? What would you expect back?

What would you be happy getting if you sold it?

Ive read a lot of post on here about sending in dug coins, not to do it unless its extremely rare. Does this qualify?

I really need help with this, im a metal dectorist, not a coin dealer/grader. Any advice is MUCH appreciated.

Thanks!

It's in pretty good shape but I wouldn't know what it's worth because I never sell anything that I find.

First: congratulations, and welcome to TNET.

I can't speak from experience, but in the time I've been on this site the pattern I've seen is that the folks I consider the most knowledgeable consistently advise people not to slab them, as the coin will frequently come back with "environmental damage" or other such condition issue identified, which at any sort of auction has a good chance of creating an artificial ceiling for the value. Apparently this varies based on company (with PCGS seemingly being the worst).

Oh, and I would keep it. : )

That is a rare date/MM. I'd send it in if you plan on selling it online. Otherwise, I wouldn't spend the money. Even if it come back with a "damage" note, it still shows it being genuine, which is what people want to be assured of when purchasing online. I'd use PCGS or NGC. They seem to be the most credible and accurate.

Very good find!...or should I say, GREAT Find!
I think the value, to yourself, in memories, is worth more!

Even if I was to find a key date coin - I'd keep it!
To me, where I live, old coins are a VERY rare find, indeed!

That's a banner find for sure with that low a mintage. I wouldn't have it graded unless you need some money and plan on selling it. Probably good for at least one or two mortgage payments. Congrats

A banner find are the awesome finds that scroll across the top of every page on this website. Voted on by members. You should post this coin in the today's finds forum. It gets the most traffic on treasurenet
