Buckle?

Found in my yard, just curious if you think its a small buckle or something else? It seems to have wear in the areas where a clasp would go but perhaps my eyes are seeing whats not there.

Definitely a buckle, the tongue (prong) probably dissolved when you dug it up. Not easy to date buckles. They made tongue out of iron from 1700's to present time.
