I met up with Jimmy(NM) at a soccer field for a day of jewelry hunting. This place has produced a number of gold and silver items every time it's been hunted by either of us. The weather was perfect here today, mid 70's and sunny. Jimmy got the day started off right with a nice class ring, his second one here, so, with visions of silver and gold filling our pouches we got busy. Well, it wasn't to be today, I did manage to dig 50+ pieces of trash and as many clad coins to boot. I did salvage a piece of a silver ??? something, I think a piece of a ring, and I believe the earring is silver. Other than that, I got a lot exercise and sunshine.

Damn, maybe that's my problem, I only dig solid mid tone signals. I have only dug that many pull tabs, total, since I started May 2014. Mt last solid mid tone was a junk ring, that rang in like an Indian Head solid 58 vdi on the F75.

Congrats on getting out and digging targets, When I woke up, the temp. was 2 degrees here in Northern Ohio.

I was focusing on upper to high tones on my e-trac, lazy and cherry picking, until I decided to dig the low tones. I was shocked as to how much cool stuff, rings, jewelry, tokens, etc. I was leaving behind. You have to have the right mind set otherwise it'll drive you mad. :BangHead:

The golf cart key is kinda cool. I have over 1000 keys, but, I don't think I have one of those.

You bring up a perfect example that high end machines find as much trash as lower end machines. Maybe an inch or two deeper.

If I didn't tire as much in my old age, I'd go back to my beep and dig Tesoro's that found everything and found it deep as well. Some days I love using AM mode and digging more, but those days are getting scarcer. :laughing7:

I have found more jewelry in the gold range than the silver, especially rings.

Some days the goodies are there in abundance, some days they are few and far between. Still found some cool stuff. I like the Miami Dolphins pin. Enjoy the weather in your neck of the woods. Here in central Maryland, we got about 6 inches of snow after a few days of sub-zero wind chills. Oh, and freezing rain on the way overnight. Ground is hard as a rock. Is it spring yet?? :dontknow:

I need to bring this to your attention...

The Dolphins pin belongs in the trash pile.

Dan,

The fact is if you want gold you've got to dig the junk....it comes with the territory...the rings in my avatar all rang up as pulltabs...lol.

I dig a lot more tabs now than I used to for that very reason:diamond-ring:

I guess I am different. When my machine hits a hard `40-42, it's a tab. Could be a ring, but the odds are in great favor of a tab. Too great to be bothered with. I have dug rings (and gold rings) everywhere from the 20s to the high 70s. The conductivity of tabs don't fluctuate that much, as most are the same conductivity. In a high tab area, I will set my notch width at 3, and notch out all conductive targets in the 40-41-42 range. Sometimes even 39. Odds are that 1 ring may come out of 100 or so tabs, but I just can't dig the other 99 anymore. I'll concentrate on the 20-99 conductivity readings less the 4 points notched where most tabs show up. There's still plenty of finds that way, including gold rings.
