I have always hated the cheap naugahyde sheath that came with my short handle digger. It was loose and floppy on the belt. I had seen some posts on here where others had made Kydex sheaths for their diggers. Thought I would order the supplies and give it a try. Here's my attempt. I think I'm most excited about the probe holder. I use an awl for a probe because it's stout and hard to bend. I mainly use it for starting holes in hard ground or packed gravel drives. I normally carry it in my pouch but once the pouch starts filling with trash then I have to dig for the awl. Got the idea for the holder from the knife sheath makers. They like to add the ferro rod holders to their sheaths.

I think I will end up having to go back and Dremel out an opening below the point to allow dirt to fall out...totally forgot about that. I re-read some of the posts on sheaths and had a real "duh" moment!

Thanks guys! I'm really liking this stuff. I've gone Kydex crazy and made another sheath plus a small holder for my magnifier. My eyes aren't what they used to be. I now have to carry a loupe to read coin dates!
Already ran out of supplies. Guess it's time to go shopping.

Nice job. Where do you get your kydex and supplies from?

Thanks BladeRunner

I ordered everything I needed from knifekits.com. In the beginning I was planning on ordering from multiple sources to save money but Knifekits prices were so good it wasn't worth the hassle of multiple orders.

Gracias! I'm going to give it a go for the new digging tool I just bought.

Great job on the sheath! I have a couple sheets of kydex on hand and think it would fun to put one together.
