1630s Mexico mint cob not 50 yards from a parking lot and interstate.

Barber dime at a small retaining wall in a park that was just built less than 10 years ago.

I guess my oddball location for silver was a circa 1950's sports field....I had pulled out probably 12 or so modern silvers over the years.

The oddball silver was a few weeks ago US 1853 half dime...don't know how it got there but I'll take it.

1964 Rosie which was sitting on top of a vending machine at work. I guess the machine would not accept it and the person who wanted to use it tossed it on top of the vending machine.

I also dug a 1780 half real in a curb strip in the town where I reside. The area was first settled in 1818.

I found a half dime on a modern baseball field. Had to be brought in with the sand.

I found a 1920 Merc under a claw foot tub I was removing during an old home demo. Coincidentally, the house was built in 1920 and there were several old coins under it but only one silver.

Yes. Thought I was in the Twilight Zone. I've found a few Indian cents in change recently too.

I hunt a fairly old park near me occasionally. A few silver dimes here and there.

One day I went out to the entrance to hunt, and found a standing liberty quarter. Right by the road.

We were all driving by it to park our cars and hunt the field...

I think it was somebody's dump gone wrong because this machine has no surcharge.

About 15 years ago, I had a P.O.S. car, falling apart....the junkyard was a regular place for me to keep that old dog running.
Thing is, I couldn't resist scrounging the ashtrays and floorboards for lost change...
I still have the Rosie dime I found once....1964-D.

1919 mercury dime laying on top of the ground 10 feet from an old dump. Walked past it many times to detect in the dump.

After a heavy rain often times I use to find old silver coins at yard demo sites sitting exposed on a little pillar of dirt. I picked up a couple of seated dimes over the years. This is my first post in years here. Rejoined tonight, looks so different now, it will take me some time to get use to where topics are.

My neighbor died, and his wife was selling all his "junk", I bought 3 of those work bench organizers with all the little plastic drawers, each crammed with nuts, bolts, etc., one drawer had 12 mercury dimes in it. After finding them I had high hopes for the remaining 150 or so drawers, but that was all the silver.

Back in my mechanicing days, a customer came in with an electrical problem. Kept blowing fuses in a 'hot all the time" circuit. Sure enough, a Mercury dime had fallen down into a console lighter socket and was shorting it out. The car was a mid 80's model, so, kinda strange that a Merc would end up in there.
