2 years ago I dug up a 1951 Zippo lighter from the bottom of the river that I detect in. Recently I found out about their warranty where they'll fix or replace ANY lighter, so I sent it in and added a note explaining how I found it and that I'd like to save anything that I can from it. This is what it looked like and this is what they sent back! Works perfectly!

I actually didn't know about that before today, but that's super cool. I hope that policy is paying off for them!

good deal! I'm curious if you can clean and buff the brass casing?

I'm sure I could clean and shine it but I sorta like that it has the same look it had right out of the water. Nice reminder of where it came from!

Yep. Cleaning off the toneing doesn't make sense.

That is so awesome. I have sent a couple of them back, over the years, to be repaired and never a problem. I carry a brass one today as my daily user. Cool looking and nostalgic. Cool story on your part.

Yep,sent in 3 of them I've had and beaten pretty hard, screwed up hinges, etc. All came back quickly fixed and what they couldn't fix they replaced. I sent them an email with my appreciation and you know what the lady said? "We NEVER get email thanking us for the warranty and for fixing stuff that has been obviously abused. Thank YOU." Needless to say I use them exclusively. And no,I will NOT flick your Bic....
